Well, I have used a single shot, pump, autoloader, and the double barrel. My first shotgun was a bolt-action Western Auto brand I bought for $60 using paper route tips. I have missed and hit with them all. What is my favorite? By far the double barrel. In Pennsylvania, where I live, a shotgun must be plugged to no more than three rounds--counting the one in the action. I have rarely found a third shot to help if I miss twice. I like the double barrel, with two different chokes. Sometimes, if the rabbit is a little further, I use the second, tighter choked barrel instead of the first barrel. If I am honest, I also like the wooden stocks and the tradition of a trusty side by side as well. I have seen all sorts of guns in the brush, with guys that shoot better than me! What is your favorite action when it comes to hunting bunnies?

I really like my stevens 28 gauge over/under , I like that little bit of extra shot over the 410 and with my shooting "skills" I often need that second shot. I have used 16 , 20 and 12 also but they tend to tear up the rabbit too much for me so I prefer the smaller gauges.

I know what you mean about the larger bores ruining the meat!

Right now I'm using a Browning BPS 20 gauge with an English stock. I like #6 shot as it seems to punch through, rather than stay in the meat for the most part. When I finish restoring my Ithaca Lefever Nitro Special 16 ga. I'll probably use that.

I have a Lefever 16! Did Ithaca make those? I never knew much about the Lefevers. That is neat.

I believe Ithaca acquired the Lefever gun co. and made a few models afterwards. Mine is the Nitro Special which is a plain jane model.

I have shot all types of actions with the exception of the double barrel. My favorite to use is the trusty single shot however I have a feeling I would like the double as well and look to purchase one someday.

Single shot makes us better shooters--or at least makes me be more patient. And that is a good thing.

Like in Orange Gate Road, I recently found out you don't aim a shotgun. I've been practicing shooting with both eyes open and what I've discovered is that the 870 Wingmaster I grew up with in the late 60's doesn't fit me. Luckily though, my grandfathers old 16 guage Ithaca M37 seems to fit me real good. It's my go to gun now and the nostalgia of shooting the gun he always carried when we rabbit or pheasant hunted is a real joy. I won't go on too much more, but the first beagle I hunted over came by way of Pennsylvania. I remember when a bitch (Peggy) came over to my grandfather from one of our relatives visiting from PA. I was probably about 7 years old. She was tied up in the bed of a pick-up & she was pregnant. She had a big litter we all as kids played with. Sport was the dog he ultimately kept & was the first beagle I ever hunted with. I could keep going but I won't. I'm enjoying Beagle Tales & Beagle Tales 2. As I read the stories it brings back memories of my own. Thanks! Stan from Michigan. 5/20/2015 06:43:51 pm

Shot gun type is extremely beneficial and interesting. The features and measures of the life are made possible and fascinating. It is reformed and performed with the respectable and honorable type. It is very nicely mentioned and ensured for all such terms and conditions. 4/12/2016 06:31:06 pm
